Common bearing box lubrication methods

The bearing box lubrication method is one of the key factors to ensure the normal operation of mechanical equipment and extend the service life of bearings. Appropriate lubrication methods can not only reduce friction and wear, but also effectively discharge friction heat, prevent excessive bearing temperature, and prevent foreign matter intrusion and metal corrosion. The following are common bearing box lubrication methods:

1. Oil bath (oil immersion) lubrication Method: Immerse the bearing part in the lubricating oil, and use the stirring of the bearing during operation to bring the oil into the other parts of the bearing. Advantages: Sufficient lubrication, suitable for low or medium speed occasions. Disadvantages: The oil supply is not easy to adjust. If there is no filtering device in the oil tank, it is easy to bring impurities into the bearing and damage the bearing. At the same time, during the operation of the bearing, the rolling element and the oil in the oil tank generate heat due to friction. If the speed is too fast, the oil temperature will be high. Application: Commonly used in low or medium speed occasions, especially horizontal shaft bearings, but the surface of the oil should not exceed the center of the bearing to prevent violent stirring and oil temperature rise; for vertical shafts, the static oil level should cover 50%-80% of the rolling element.

2. Splash lubrication Method: The oil splashes onto the bearing through the rotating body (impeller or "oil slinger") mounted on the shaft, and the bearing is not immersed in the oil. Advantages: Simple structure, suitable for open gearboxes or chain boxes. Disadvantages: The oil supply is not easy to adjust, and the lubricating oil level cannot be too high, otherwise it is easy to cause stirring loss and temperature rise, and at the same time, impurities in the oil tank are brought into the bearing to damage the bearing. Application: Suitable for occasions such as gearboxes with rotating parts.

3. Oil mist lubrication Method: The lubricating oil is mixed with a small amount of lubricating oil in the oil mist generator using compressed air to form oil mist, and then transported to the bearing lubrication part. Advantages: Suitable for high-speed rotation, small amount of oil, small stirring resistance, and small pollution to equipment and products. Disadvantages: Special spray equipment is required, maintenance is more complicated, cost is higher, and there are certain requirements for the viscosity of the oil used, which should generally not be higher than 340㎜2/s, otherwise the atomization effect will not be achieved. Application: Suitable for high-speed occasions.
